Introduction:

This is a technical challenge designed both to show a glimpse of the field where you'll apply your knowledge and to get to know your skills better. It's a "hello world" scope IoT project for lighting control that will introduce you to the more complex scenarios we work with at ProtoPixel, using the same toolchain you'll use in your day-to-day job.

The task is expected to be done at home, and we have sent you the necessary materials. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any issues with the delivery or the proposed timing!

Materials and environment:

Materials:

Your kit should include, at least:

Please check that the kit contents match the list before starting. Do not hesitate to contact us if anything is broken or missing.

Programming environment:

To complete the task you must install a development environment including Espressif's esp-idf. You can follow the linked instructions to install the official environment on an editor or just keep it command line. Alternatively, if you're a Visual Studio Code user, install the PlatformIO extension and generate an esp-idf project using the PlatformIO plugin. This is the faster option on any operating system and should not take more than a few minutes.

Technical Task: Wireless Light Control

You have been provided with two ESP32 Devkits and electronic prototyping components. Your task is to assemble them into a lighting control network.

Simple Simulation of a Lamp

First, create a simple simulation of a lamp using the first Devkit. Use the provided materials, including protoboards, LEDs, buttons, and cabling.

The lamp simulation should include an LED that can be turned on or off and a button that toggles (turns on and off) its state.
